Favorite Book
Hi, I'm not back to blogging - I just had a question for you. What's your favorite book? Can be a classic you read long ago, or something still in hardback that you just finished. I listen to audiobooks on my way to work, thanks to my local library. I've listened to about everything they have that I know I wanted to read, and I'm nearly to the point of just picking random books.

Comments:
Now that's a title. Looks like my library doesn't have an audio version, but I'll put it on my paper reading list.

The picture of Dorian Gray. Oscar Wilde. :)

Another one for the paper-based list. I'm generally familiar with the story, but have been meaning to read it. Funny, this was mentioned on the halfbakery only a few days ago. Are you a 'baker?

Hehe, no way. I can't cook.:)

Thanks, Wheel, but I've listed to that one. Actually this was one of the few audiobooks I've regretted not reading, because of the pictures and diagrams I missed. Cute book though.

To Kill a Mockingbird.

Cool. Thanks. I'll look into those.

Ooooooh! Book! Just one? Sorry, can't do it, but here are a few of my faves in no particular order...

Nightfall (Asimov & Silverberg)
Perelandra (CS Lewis)
Good Omens (Pratchett & Gaiman)

All added to my list. Thanks!

try 'the bone people' by keri hulme

I recently read Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. I highly recommend it if your library has it on tape.

1984-george orwell.....by far. a close second would be a series of books...the death gate cycle by margaret weis and tracy hickman...scifi...or whatnot....

1) Shake Hands with the Devil- Lt. Gen. Romeo Dallaire
2) Round Ireland with a Fridge- Tony Hawks
3) Kathy Reichs- a forensic anthropologist writing about a, wait for it, a forensic anthropologist

There's a book about being single and happy that I really liked. Then I read a few books by James Patterson: Kiss the Girls was good, along with "Along Came a Spider", "Cat & Mouse" and "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas".

'The Crow Road' by Ian Banks. Warning! MUst be read with Scottish accent (and I dont mean Mike Myers')

'The Player of Games' by Iain.M.Banks - Genre Novel by the same.

'Dune' by Frank Herbert always does well (15+ times so far)

'Mort' by Pratchett - Good Omens mentioned elsewhere.

I think there was a show or movie called "The Crow Road", probably based on the book. Never saw the movie or read the book, but I have heard about it.

A Happy Death, Albert Camus. :)

Oooh, Camus. I've always meant to read some of his work.

Still Life With Woodpecker by Tom Robbins.

I agree with [katrina]. More of my favorites:

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (unlike anything I've ever read)
Shogun by James Clavell (whose Tai-Pan and Noble House are also worth mentioning)
Underworld by Don DeLillo

and maybe
Complete Letters of Vincent Van Gogh by ...umm..., Vincent Van Gogh.

My favorite when I was a kid was MY FRIEND FLICKA. Now I jump around from genre to genre. I have been reading everything from A Man called Intrepid, to Zane Grey Westerns, to no-brainer romantic novels, to science fiction. Somedays I just like to get lost in a book.

The Dark Tower -Stephen King
(Actually 7 books, but sort of make up one total.)

Try Lonesome Dove and any of Larry McMurtry's other westerns. His contemporary stuff is sometimes great and sometimes ho-hum. Also, Dr. Zhivago the book was marvelous. The movie is one of my all-time favorites, but the book was much better.

Meanwhile, please tell me what ever happened to the clear coffee or tea idea. I am going through incredible hoops to lighten a dark front tooth and would immediately buy a clear coffee or tea product. Thanks!!

I don't think I've ever read a western. I might give that one a try, just to see if I like them.

I'd love it if someone baked clear coffee. If I had any idea how to do it I'd market it myself.

Just one?

Lolita. The greatest novel of all time.

My Year of Meats. 100 Years of Solitude.

"Tales From the Monkey House" by Kurt Vonnegut. I love collections of short stories.

By the way, it looks like the AIM pornbot found you.
