The chronicles of Bev.
Bev is an interesting creature on the Halfbakery. Her life seems a bit like a novel, the details of which are all needed to understand some of the postings on the Halfbakery. I thought I'd summarize them here for reference.

I first met Bev at the 'bakery bed-in. She's a she, from Portugal, and has nice teeth and hair. She calls me Fifi, [GutPunchLulubies] LuLu, and her assistant Bubu. She has a twin sister who is married to a Sao Paolo tycoon who Bev loaths.

Bev's user page has details of her and Bubu: bwv61 He's her (not very talented) assistant whom she sleeps with. They both smoke(d) like chimneys.

Bev liked smoking so much, she went for the world's record of number of cigarettes smoked simultaneously. In doing so she passed out and nearly died. Bubu brought her to the hospital and she's on oxygen. While in the emergency room, it was found that she had throat polyps from smoking, which were possibly pre-cancerous. She had them removed and they were not.

(added later)
The chronicles of Bev were short. (name witheld), known to me as Bev, passed away on August 30, 2004, 40 minutes before I wrote the above description. She apparently died of nicotine overdose from too many patches, the details of which I know little. You will be missed, Bev.

(this just in)
Word has come in from a reliable source that the Bev incident was likely a hoax.

(new update 8/13/05)
Bev has contacted me through e-mail, requesting her real name be pulled of the blog.

Flying Egg?
What is this?

Let's look a little closer.

Hmmm... Still can't tell. Let's look closer still.

Wonderful that someone did this. I knew it as a halfbakery idea, but [django] pointed out that it's baked. I'm glad a human arm flapping powered blimp exists. I think it makes this world a little bit better.

5. How many hours a day do you spend driving?
6. What is your favorite texture?
7. List your favorite thing that you do every day.

Hybrid Scooter
It's about time. This should make them even lighter, which is good. Not to mention the whole fuel savings thing (though my wife's scooter already gets 100 mpg). Everyone should have a scooter.

Blogtag
I hereby call for a game of blogtag. I have tagged [k_sra], so she is it. She must now find where I've added the comment "tag" somewhere on her blog and report back here with the exact location I tagged her. Then she can tag someone else, posting who she tagged here. It's also advised to let the tagged person know they are tagged, or they may end up being it forever. As I know [k] visits here, I'll just let her figure it out.

Drinking Game
Jerry Aldini thinks my title is a terrible play on words. Ok, I can take criticism. I've used Worldgineer as my login name, my last name, and my blog name. Clearly I'm lacking in originality. I hereby request my talented reader(s) to propose a new blog name. If nothing good is suggested, I'll use one of these:

A Blog in the Blog of Blog
The Blogtastic Adventures of Worldgineer
Bloggineer

Danny Deckchair
Last night I saw Danny Deckchair. Austrailia seems to be very good at heartwarming stories at the moment, and this one falls right into place. It's a real ugly duckling story about what might have happened to Lawn Chair Larry if he had landed somewhere nice. It's a nice little family movie that I enjoyed, but will likely forget in a few months.

What came before
I think [k_sra] has convinced me to start up an actual blog. Don't be expecting a lot. I may only post once a week, and I may never post anything interesting. You're just going to have to be ok with that, or go do something else instead. I may post more often and find an interesting tidbit every now and then, but let's not set the bar too high.

Here's the complete history of my mini-blog on my Halfbakery profile page, so you know what to expect:

Y-MM-DD: Text

-----------

4-08-19: What my wife's scooter would look like if it weren't yellow and was owned by a family in India: http://tinyurl.com/5cdus It's good to know we can carry around more people if necessary.

4-08-12: Third nipple piercings. Warning, nudity: http://tinyurl.com/23yt5

4-07-23: Today I was going to add "put this in your easy bake oven" to the taglines list - turns out I did that last year. I'm hoping it's just that a great mind thinks alike, but I fear it's just that I've lost the ability to progress.

4-07-19: Do-it-yourself kite camera: http://education.ssc.nasa.gov/kap/kap.htm

4-07-15: Very useful here: http://www.spellcheck.net

4-07-14: Could have been a HB idea: http://members.boards.ie/templeofdreams/plectrum!.jpg

4-07-13: Sailing glider: http://tinyurl.com/6rsy2

4-06-25: If you're wondering why my ideas have been churning tonight, it's because I've gone through and tried to clean up links and anno's. There's still a lot of work to do, but I've cleaned up quite a bit.

4-06-24: k_sra sang a song at my request and it came out wonderfully: http://www.audioblogger.com/media/26226/67379.mp3

4-06-24: just realized I recommended this book twice in two days, so I thought I'd go for an even three - it's really really good:

4-06-09: k_sra got me a gmail account. Go ahead, send me an e-mail. I don't care how big.

4-06-03: Stealing directly from [k_s]'s blog, it's wrist glasses: http://tinyurl.com/2rfr4

4-03-12: http://www.tdog.com/dogsox.htm

4-03-09: I should have never deleted this one: http://tinyurl.com/ypmth

4-03-02: I have never voted against a blimp idea. I believe I have bunned every single one I've seen. Yet every one has truely seemed to be a good idea to me.

4-03-01: Inspired by [UB] saying that opinions are like assholes and [Rayford] saying attitudes are like BO, I found my favorite simple Google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22are+like%22

4-02-10: I'm not nearly as good at this mini-blog thing as [k_sra]. She's had 13 entries since my last one. I currently wish this was an inter poculal entry.

4-01-26: Found out they are killing the Hubble space telescope. Perhaps the saddest day for science since they killed off Galileo.

4-01-21: A very cool look at the Mars lander (thanks waugs!): http://www.maasdigital.com/gallery.html

4-01-16: Help save a few trillion monkeys from a hard day's work:

3-12-31: Woke up to several inches of snow, and it's still snowing. It's going to be a white New Year's in Seattle.

3-12-17: Must tell my self that it's OK I don't have any new ideas right now. They happen when they happen.

3-12-12: People are interesting. http://diddly.com/random/

3-12-10: Always write down ideas when you have them. My wife thinks she thought up the Invisible Tree.

3-12-09: http://www.lipsons.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/escher/relativity.html (thanks [po])

3-12-04: Observed HB peaks (GMT-8): 9am, 1pm

Observed HB troughs: 3pm 'till bedtime

3-12-03: It really feels like I've posted "Database of Scientific Problems" before. Either I deleted it for some reason or perhaps I dreamed it.
